The Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP) reported on Tuesday that a Filipino seafarer returning from Singapore was arrested by authorities at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 last Monday.

Following prior coordination with the Bureau of Immigration, personnel from the PNP-AVSEGROUP and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Manila District Field Unit conducted a joint operation after the passenger was flagged upon arrival due to an outstanding arrest warrant.

A bail of P72,000 was recommended after the accused was arrested for violating Section 5(i) of Republic Act 9262, also known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

The apprehended passenger is currently in the custody of the CIDG Manila District Field Unit for documentation and subsequent legal proceedings.

“Not everyone who comes makes it home. For those with outstanding charges, the airport is not a place of escape but a frontline where justice intercepts them,” said PNP-AVSEGROUP director Police Brigadier General Christopher M. Abecia.
